The villa has the most beautiful view we have ever seen. The property is gorgeous, the furnishing stylish and the architecture is perfectly designed to allow you to enjoy the view from any place in the house, even the bathroom. We particularly loved the view from the open air kitchen. The beach below the house is perfect for enjoying the ocean, and at low tide you can walk on the reef and enjoy looking at a myriad of sea creatures that live in the rock formations. A fabulous place for a wonderful weekend.

A holiday in paradise

Our family was fortunate enough to visit this amazing place during July. The stay was beyond our most optimistic expectations! The beach and location are idillic and the 4x4 drive through the reserve transport you from every day life into this natural paradise. Vista Abril is fantastic and the owners have taken great care to design and furnish the place tastefully. Given the remoteness of the venue I expected it to be very basic but was pleasantly surprised by how well appointed it was. This really is a get away from it all venue!

Amazing location with well designed gorgeous house

Perched on the edge of the hill, the house's location is magical, providing incredible vistas of the beach and ocean below. The position has the added bonus of being protected from the prevailing wind. The house's clever design makes it compact and comfortable, with the living area opening up to make it feel like you really are on holiday and enjoying the views and breeze, rather than being cooped up inside. The decor and design is stylish and striking, with local wood being used throughout the house. Our bedroom had a beautiful view of the sea, with a wide wooden porch in front. A large lovely bathroom at the back was added to by having an outdoor shower. The beach is a 5 min walk down steep stairs, which is so worth it to be able to come back up to the deck, pool and view above. The sea was magical for swimming, with warm water and waves. And the kids played for hours on the beach moving between the sand dune, rock pools and beach.

Incredible villa in remote Mozambique

Vista Abril is truly one of the most magnificent beach villa's we have ever experienced. We usually spend our holidays in villas in Mexico, but for our large family celebration, decided to find a beach villa closer to home. Vista Abril exceeded all of our expectations. The views from the deck and the beach are quite spectacular. The villa itself is beautifully appointed and stylishly furnished. It lacked for nothing in terms of amenities, including really lovely toiletries and a fully stocked kitchen with sharp knives and a couple of french presses. The housekeeping staff are pleasant and efficient. The stairs down to the bottom bedrooms and then onto the beach are extremely steep. They would definitely be very difficult for older people and young children to navigate. Our group aged between 9 and 60, managed well. The beach is beautiful and pristine. All in all it was one of the most exquisite places we have ever stayed, and we so look forward to going back. Getting to Vista Abril was an adventure! We crossed the border into Mozambique via Kosi Bay, which went quickly and without incident, but we literally got one of our 4x4's stuck in the sand directly outside the border post which was a sign of things to come. The roads through the Machangulo reserve where only suitable for full 4x4 travel, and the drive was a 6 hour hectically off road experience. Our Jeeps were scratched by the tree branches that populated most of the drive. We didn't pass a single shop between Kosi Bay and Vista Abril so we were very happy that we came fully prepared for how remote this little slice of heaven really is. The large herd of elephants we passed on our way out of the Reserve was a perfect treat to end a magnificent holiday.

Probably one of the best private beach houses in the world...

Not a gaudy pop star mansion but instead the ideal, cool, casual, open to the elements beach house blending perfectly into a remote, private, long, desert-island feel beach with the softest powder sands and azure water... An architectural surprise and wonder, considering its location... Go very prepared - it is extremely difficult to get to, requiring proper off-road vehicles, and there is NOTHING there or nearby that hints of civilisation (and then, when you hit that, we're talking Mozambique...). So, as we did, you must take in everything you could possibly need (there is a Shoprite and Woolworths in Maputo, but after that nothing...) and don't expect easy - or any - communications. It is nonetheless exactly because of this location that it is completely worth it. Not only for the adventure of getting there, but because its isolation (almost like a private island, given the reserve between it and the rest of Mozambique - perhaps feeling a little like it must to have Richard Branson's Necker Island all to oneself) coupled with the quality of the villa and beauty of the place multiplies its specialness exponentially.
